Andrew and I thought it might be fun to be real Baltimoreans this Memorial Day weekend and get a dozen crabs and crack them on the porch. Aunt Rachel and Uncle Adam came over to join in the festivities and we had a ton of fun. My mom even got Jacob a very cute crab outfit to wear. Aunt Rachel and Uncle Adam also showed up with a little crab outfit so I guess we will be cracking crabs again very soon before he grows out of that outfit. Here is a picture of our crabby baby after we made him pose for numerous pictures.

Hiccups
Our poor baby is always getting the hiccups. I have no idea how to prevent them or how to stop them. I will say sometimes he is awfully cute when he has them.

Relaxing Weekend
We had a very nice and relaxing weekend. It was so nice to have Andrew home to help me and watch Jacob so I could accomplish some things around the house. Our friend Ferg came on Saturday and on Sunday Emily, Gui, Aunt Rachel and Uncle Adam stopped by to visit. We had a very nice time visiting with everyone and Jacob was very good during all the visits.
I think Jacob is going through a growth spurt right now because he wants to eat every hour to hour and a half and last night he only slept about an hour to two hours in between feedings. I'm glad he is growing but I hope this only lasts a day or two :)
Here are a few pictures Andrew took over the weekend.

The Tummy Shuffle
We have been doing tummy time with our little man at least 2 times a day for a few minutes at a time. The first time he had tummy time he got so mad he flipped himself onto his back. He has flipped himself again but he is really cute during tummy time so his daddy took a video last night and wanted me to post it on the blog. Hope you enjoy!

We did it!
We did it! Today Jacob and I had our first excursion all by ourselves. I was really nervous that he would cry the whole way in the car or meltdown when we got to where we were going but he didn't. We went to the Mothering Matters class that the hospital sponsors for new moms and then we went to the mall. We were gone from 10am-2pm and he was awesome. I fed him during the class and then gave him a bottle in the car at the mall but there were no meltdowns and it made me confident I can do it again. I just have to remember not to push him and stay on his schedule.
The Mothering Matters class was nice and it was good for me to get out of the house and find a support group of moms going through the same things I am. Babies ranged from 6 days old to 5 months old and a lactation consultant ran the program. I'm so glad that everything went smoothly today because it encourages me to keep trying to get out of the house.
Tonight I think we might try to give Jacob his first bath. His umbilical cord is finally on the mend and looking good enough for tubby time. I will try to have Andrew take some pictures or video to post.

Check-Up
Today we had our two week check-up and Jacob gained 12oz!!!! I am so glad he is past his birth weight and starting to chub up. The doctor said he is allowed to sleep as long as he wants and I don't have to wake him up. YIPEEE! He has been sleeping so well through the night and I have been the one getting up every 3 hours to get him to eat. After she told me I don't have to wake him up anymore I was thinking I might be able to get 4 hours of sleep at a time through the night but then she said he will probably start having a growth spurt soon and want to eat all the time. FANTASTIC...just when you think you have something down it changes. Oh well, who needs sleep. I am just glad that he has gained so much weight and is looking good.

Here we go.....
I have decided to start this blog thanks to the nagging of my sisters and mother. I am not promising spectacular blogging, hilarious stories, more than two posts a week, or fantastic pictures but you will get updates and hopefully some decent pictures.
A shout out to my husband…….
Last Wednesday my water broke around 3:30pm at home and I had Jacob by 10:30pm. The labor was so fast Andrew and I were shocked. The recovery from the labor has been slow going and pretty tough for me but Jacob has been wonderful through the whole process. I think he can sense that I have been having a hard time and so he has been the sweetest baby for me. He sleeps well, hardly fusses, and LOVES to be cuddled.
I think the one thing I have learned through the entire labor and recovery process is how much I love my husband. I was nervous that he wouldn’t be with me during the labor because he hates the site of blood but he held my leg, watched me push, and saw Jacob as he was delivered. Andrew was amazing during the entire labor and delivery process. He made me panic for nothing. I have gone through a lot physically over the last week and a half and Andrew has been there every step of the way encouraging me and supporting me. I didn’t think I could love him anymore than I do but I fell in love with him all over again and even more during and after the whole process of giving birth to our son. He is an amazing father and husband. I feel so blessed.
